Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 17, 2026

JK Creative LLC ("JK Creative," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Answerhound desktop application ("Software") and its associated website ("Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, where it is stored, and what rights you have over it.

The short version: Answerhound is built local-first. Your audit data, crawled pages, API keys, and browser session data never leave your machine. The only data we receive is what is strictly necessary to process your purchase and deliver and validate your license.

Geographic scope. The Software is currently sold only to customers in the United States and Canada. We do not market, sell, or knowingly deliver the Software to residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. If you are located in those regions, please do not purchase or activate the Software. See Section 6.

1. Information We Collect

1a. At Purchase (processed by Square)

When you purchase a license, the transaction is processed by Square, Inc. Square collects and processes your name, email address, billing address, and payment method details. JK Creative receives only metadata from Square: a transaction ID, your email address, your billing country, and the fact that payment was completed. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or bank account details. Square's handling of your payment data is governed by Square's Privacy Policy.

1b. At License Activation

When you activate Answerhound, the Software sends the following to our license server:

What we treat this as. We treat the device fingerprint hash as personal data under applicable U.S. state privacy laws (including the CCPA/CPRA's definition of "unique identifier") and we handle it accordingly. Although we never receive the raw identifiers, we do not rely on that to categorize the hash as non-personal โ€” we treat the hash as linkable to you through the license record that it accompanies.

Why we collect it and our lawful basis. We collect this information solely to validate your license and enforce the three-device limit described in the EULA. Our basis for processing is performance of the license contract with you (the EULA) and our legitimate interest in preventing license abuse. We do not use the device fingerprint for any other purpose, and we do not sell, share, or disclose it to any third party.

1c. At Update Check

When the Software checks for updates, it sends:

No license key, user identifier, or email-linked identifier is included in the update request. The server logs the request IP (standard HTTP behavior) but does not correlate that IP to any license record. Update check logs are retained for a maximum of thirty (30) days and then deleted.

1d. At Email Delivery (processed by Resend)

Your email address is passed to Resend, Inc. to deliver your license confirmation email and any required service notices (for example, revocation notices or material EULA changes). Resend's handling of this data is governed by Resend's Privacy Policy. We do not use your email for marketing without your separate, affirmative consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The following data stays on your machine and is never transmitted to JK Creative or any server we operate:

4. Third-Party Services

Square (payment processing). We use Square to accept payments. Square operates as an independent data controller for payment data. See squareup.com/legal/privacy.

Resend (transactional email). We use Resend to send license confirmation emails and service notices. See resend.com/privacy.

Google PageSpeed Insights API. The Software can call the Google PageSpeed Insights API to retrieve performance data about a URL you are auditing. This call is made directly from your machine to Google's servers. JK Creative's server is not involved in this request. Your use of the PageSpeed Insights API is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Google's Terms of Service. JK Creative is not a party to that transaction.

5. Cookies

Landing page and checkout. Our website uses only cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the page and to route you to Square's hosted checkout. We do not set first-party analytics, advertising, or behavioral-tracking cookies on our landing page. When you click through to Square's hosted checkout, Square's own site loads and Square may set cookies in accordance with its privacy notice; your relationship for those cookies is with Square, not with us.

The desktop application. Answerhound does not set or read browser cookies on your system outside of the sandboxed Playwright browser profile it manages locally for audit purposes.

6. Your Privacy Rights

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@jkcreative.store with the subject line "CCPA Request" and a description of your request. We will respond within 45 days. We may ask you to verify your identity (for example, by replying from the email address on your license record) before we process your request.

Residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

Answerhound is not currently offered for sale in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. We do not market to these regions, do not accept payment from billing addresses in these regions, and do not knowingly process the personal data of residents of these regions.

If you nevertheless purchase the Software while residing in one of these regions, or if you believe we hold personal data about you as an EEA/UK/Swiss resident, contact hello@jkcreative.store with the subject line "EU Data Request." We will either (a) delete the data and refund your purchase in full, or (b) honor the request to access, correct, or erase the data in line with GDPR or UK GDPR standards, at your option.

When we expand to these regions, we will update this policy, appoint a representative under GDPR Article 27 / UK GDPR, and publish that representative's contact details in this section.

All Users

Regardless of location, you may request access to or deletion of the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@jkcreative.store. We will respond within 30 days of a verifiable request. We may retain information we are legally required to retain (see Section 10).

7. Children's Privacy

Answerhound is a professional software tool not directed at children under the age of 13 (or, in the jurisdictions where a higher minimum applies, under the age of 16). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently received information from a child, contact us at hello@jkcreative.store and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data we hold:

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we commit to the breach notification obligations in Section 9.

9. Data Breach Notification

If we confirm a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users by email to the address associated with their license in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, and in any event no later than thirty (30) calendar days after confirming the breach, consistent with the Washington State Data Breach Notification Act (RCW 19.255.010). Where a shorter notification period applies under another law that governs a particular user, we will comply with that shorter period.

Where a breach affects more than five hundred (500) Washington residents, we will also notify the Washington Attorney General within thirty (30) days of confirming the breach, as required by RCW 19.255.010.

Notification will describe, to the extent known: the nature of the breach, the categories of data affected, the date or estimated date of the breach, and the steps we are taking or have taken to address it. We will also provide guidance on steps you can take to protect yourself.

Notification may be delayed to the extent a law enforcement agency determines that notification would impede a criminal investigation, and will be made as soon as the agency notifies us that notification will not compromise the investigation.

10. Data Retention

We retain license activation records (license key, device fingerprint hashes, timestamps, OS metadata) for as long as your license is active, plus a reasonable period thereafter to handle support requests, renewals, and refund or chargeback disputes.

Financial records. Payment metadata received from Square is retained for a minimum of seven (7) years to satisfy our federal and Washington state tax and financial-records obligations (IRC ยง 6001 and WAC 458-20-254).

Deletion requests. If you request deletion of your data, we will delete or anonymize it within thirty (30) days, except where retention is required by law (for example, the financial-records obligation above). We will confirm what was deleted and what was retained, and on what legal basis.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by email to the address associated with your license at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect, and will display an in-app notice presenting a summary of the change at first launch after the effective date. Non-material changes (typographical corrections, clarifications, contact-information updates) take effect when posted. The current and prior versions of this policy will be available in the Software and on our website.
